Colonel Braxton On Schedule For Return

Colonel Braxton is on schedule to return to action at Thurles early next month.

The Dessie Hughes-trained gelding has been off the track since finishing fifth when favourite for the Royal & Sun Alliance Chase at the Cheltenham Festival back in March.

His trainer Dessie Hughes said on Monday: 'Colonel Braxton is in good form and the plan is to start him off in a three-mile winners of one chase at Thurles on December 5.

'A decision will then be made as to whether he will run in handicap chases or take on the top chasers at level weights.'

The gelding is currently rated 136 and is therefore eligible for the e170,000 Paddy Power Handicap Chase at Leopardstown on December 27 which is one of his target races this season.
