Commander snowed in

Imperial Commander's comeback from injury has been held up by the weather, although trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies is not worried at this stage as he bids for a repeat win in the totesport Gold Cup.

Twiston-Davies was hoping to get the nine-year-old back out on the roads as he builds up his fitness in defence of his Cheltenham crown.

However, snow and ice has made the area around Twiston-Davies' Gloucestershire yard treacherous, meaning the Betfair Chase winner, who was ruled out of the King George VI Chase with a leg injury, is confined to his box.

"He's fine, but the weather has taken everything out of our hands for the moment," said Twiston-Davies.

"We were going to get him started back on the roads and things, but at the moment we can't get him out of his box. It won't hold him up or anything, he'll still make the Gold Cup, there's no problems on that score."

Twiston-Davies has yet to come up with a plan for Paddy Power Gold Cup winner Little Josh, who made a bold bid of bringing up the double in the Vote AP Gold Cup. "I haven't really decided what to do with Little Josh yet," he added.

"He's looking really good, but I'll have to talk to the owners. We need to know when racing resumes before we start making plans."
