Concerto to reappear in Durkan Aran Concerto looks set to make his seasonal debut this Sunday in the John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase, for which just six horses were left in at the five-day entry stage. The injury-plagued gelding has won six of his eight career starts including the Grade 1 Powers Gold Cup at Fairyhouse last Easter, and Noel Meade has never made any secret of the regard in which he holds the eight-year-old. Meade, who also has Watson Lake in this weekend's event, said "I'm going to leave both of them in but at the moment it's my intention to run Aran Concerto." "He's obviously a very exciting horse, I'm very happy with him at the moment and everything has been going nicely. We're looking forward to getting him started again." The other four entries for the two and a half mile Grade One contest are the Willie Mullins' duo of Barker and J'y Vole, In Compliance and Joncol. Cooldine, winner of the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival last March, is a significant absentee. The ground at Punchestown is currently described as heavy.
