Paul Deegan is excited about the potential of Corail ahead of the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Hurry Harriet Stakes at Gowran.

The Lady O'Reilly-owned three-year-old took a big step forward when only narrowly denied in a Listed contest at Galway recently.

She meets the winner from that event, Willie Mullins' improving Laviniad, on 4lb better terms for half a length, with Deegan also hoping the step up to nine and a half furlongs will play to her strengths.

"I thought she ran a very good race at Galway," said Deegan.

"She just met a bit of trouble and was forced wide and on another day she might have won. She's came out of it well, though.

"I don't see the step up in trip as a bother, but if it got too dry I wouldn't be keen on running her.

"She's a progressive filly and we really like her.

"We didn't run her from May to July because I felt she just needed time to mature, she went back to the farm and did just that.

"I think she'll be much better next year but it's nice to know that she's already got black type.

"She was just a bit on the weak side so we gave her time to develop and we'll hopefully see the benefit."

Dermot Weld is going for a third straight win in the race with Afternoon Sunlight, while My Titania runs for John Oxx.

Aidan O'Brien is represented by Easter and On A Pedestal, but Joseph O'Brien is unable to do the weight on either of those so rides Laviniad for Mullins.
