Corbett Court delivers on an important day for his owners My Corbett Court (7/1) delivered a timely first success for his owners the Corbett family today, as the Paddy Twomey-owned colt landed Navan's Irish Stallion Farms EBF Optional Claiming Maiden under jockey Donagh O’Connor. Racing keenly in mid-division, O’Connor eventually moved the son of Nando Parrado to lead a furlong out and scored by 3.25 lengths from Celestial Siren . Twomey reported "the owners (Anna & Declan Corbett) had a grandchild this morning and a winner in the afternoon, so it is great. "He's a horse that has shown plenty of ability all year and just has done things a bit back to front. I thought coming out of his Down Royal run that we would progress, and we took a backward step in Galway. He was a bit free and just didn't really allow the race to happen. "Today, he got a bit of cover and Donagh gave him a very good ride. "I'd say the owners are very keen to run him in the Goffs Million, so I'd say that is where he will turn up. I think they have booked Donagh already." Today’s optional claiming race was confined to horses who had raced at least twice and achieved a rating-level of 80 or less, with three of the nine runners being eligible for claim. Third-placed Palace Tyne was later claimed by Padraig Roche for €10,000. Quotes from Michael Graham
