Today's meeting at Cork will go ahead after the track at Mallow was found to be fit for racing following an early morning inspection.

Officials decided to have a look this morning because of the threat of frost with temperatures dipping below 0C.

The going is currently soft to heavy, and the forecast is for a dry day with temperatures set to rise to about 6C.

The first of seven races at the southern venue gets underway at 12.30pm.

Racing takes place tomorrow at Fairyhouse (first race 12.40pm) but the point-to-point meeting scheduled for Ballindenisk has been cancelled. The track was found to be frozen and not fit for racing with an unfavourable forecast.
