Crawford believes Carnfunnock has bright future Stuart Crawford is excited to see what the future holds for Carnfunnock following his runaway victory at Ayr. The four-year-old had suggested he was a high-class prospect in the making by finishing third in the valuable Goffs Land Rover Bumper at Punchestown in the spring. That form has worked out extremely well, with the runner-up Springwell Bay making an impressive debut for Jonjo O'Neill at Market Rasen and several others who finished behind winning since. Having been sold to Simon Munir and Isaac Souede during the summer, Carnfunnock gave the prominent owners an immediate return on their investment in Scotland, much to his trainer's delight. Crawford said: "That is obviously what we hoped he was going to do, but he still had to go and do it. "He's a very nice horse. I see the second from the Land Rover Bumper was maybe even more impressive at Market Rasen, so it looks very good form. "Our horse was very green that day. He was only just ready to go to Punchestown in the spring and has come on leaps and bounds since then. He's a horse you'd be getting excited about for the season." The County Antrim-based trainer is unsure whether Carnfunnock will stick to bumpers this season or pursue a career over hurdles. He added: "We'll have a discussion about it. We've been taking it one step at a time and said we'd get a bumper out of the way and take it from there. "He's gone and done that now and showed the run at Punchestown wasn't a flash in the pan. "Simon and Isaac have a few young horses with us, a few that might start off and go on elsewhere. "Hopefully this horse will stay us a while longer, anyway."
