Fiver Friday completed a double for Gavin Cromwell and Keith Donoghue, as she brushed aside nine rivals in the Boardsmill Stud Mares Handicap Hurdle.

The winner of the valuable Emerald Cup at the Curragh on Good Friday, the Philip Gilmore-owned six-year-old was expected to follow-up this afternoon, and was returned the 10/11 favourite (7/4 early).

Patiently ridden, the likable bay made smooth headway from three out and eased to the front before the last, ultimately coming home four-and-a-quarter lengths to the good.

The only four-year-old in the line-up, Simple Things (14/1) was an encouraging second under Simon Torrens for Philip Dempsey, while Theflyingbee (7/1) was another four-and-a-quarter lengths back in third.

"She kind of has to be ridden like that - a few times where she has arrived there and looked like she wasn't going to come off the bridle, and then found very little. You have to just ride her with confidence," Cromwell, who took the opener with Ole Ole explained.

"I'd say there is a good chance of that (mixing and matching), we would be thinking of maybe coming back here for the festival in July for the E50 grand handicap hurdle. That's on the radar and we might try and go back to the Flat in between.

"She jumps really well too, so we wouldn't rule out a chase either."
