A mistake at the last by Aeros Luck looked like it might have opened the door for the pursuing The Banger Doyle. However, Aeros Luck managed to keep that consistent sort at bay by a head. The other Cromwell hope, Dutch Schultz, was four lengths back in the bronze medal position. Cromwell said afterwards: “He deserved that, he’s a consistent horse. “In fairness to him I thought he was going to be vulnerable to The Banger Doyle coming at him but he kept finding. “Hopefully the handicapper won’t be too hard on him and he can run away for the summer.” The Raceday Stewards granted a request from John Patrick Ryan, trainer of Gaelic Arc, for an additional ten minutes to present his charge for identification by an IHRB Official in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90. K. Callaghan, rider of Saylavee, trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jumped left and never travelled.
