Crowds back in time for upcoming big meetings From this weekend full capacity crowds are set to be allowed to attend sporting venues across the country. With Goffs Thyestes Chase Day at Gowran on Thursday, and the Dublin Racing Festival at Leopardstown closing in fast, this news comes at an excellent time for the racing industry. The announcement came from An Taoiseach Micheál Martin on Friday evening that Covid-19 restrictions are to be lifted for both indoor and outdoor events from 6am Saturday 22 January. A 50 percent or 5,000 (outdoor) or 1,000 (indoor) person limit on crowds had been in place. Meanwhile in line with latest government advice, there will no longer be a requirement to complete an IHRB Health Screening questionnaire or obtain a barcode prior to racing for industry professionals.
