Curragh rain would see Bay City Roller ready to rock George Scott is hoping for rain before committing Bay City Roller to the Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh. The four-year-old made his seasonal reappearance in Chester’s Huxley Stakes and was only beaten a neck conceding 5lb to Lambourn. Ireland on Sunday is “Plan A”, but will be dependent on the weather with later targets in the Coronation Cup at Epsom and Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot to come. Scott said: “The Curragh is Plan A. They would need to get some rain in this next 24 to 48 hours. It looks like that’s going to happen. I wouldn’t take him over there if there’s firm in the going description. “With a bit of luck it’ll be good ground and he goes there. That’s what we’re looking forward to.” He added: “It was a great run at Chester. Lambourn is a dual Derby winner and he gave him 5lb. He did really well to finish so close. He’d been off the track a little while as well. He’s a big, burly horse so he would have come on for that. “He will be busy. He’s a very robust horse. He loves racing, he loves training. He’ll run in all of the races (Epsom and Ascot) provided there is no firm in the going description. He’s fine on good ground and I’d love to run him in the Coronation Cup if possible, but Ireland is next on the radar right now. “
