Cursory Glance off to paddocks Cursory Glance, one-time a leading fancy for the Qipco 1000 Guineas, has been retired due to injury. The filly, trained by Roger Varian, was a top juvenile last term winning the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group One Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh. Her only defeat in four starts came at the hands of Tiggy Wiggy in York's Lowther Stakes and she went into winter quarters as a serious contender for Classic honours. However, she suffered a fetlock injury in the spring and connections have finally called time on her racing career. "Cursory Glance will not run this season and owner Craig Bennett has taken the decision to retire her to stud," the Newmarket handler told www.varianstable.com. "Unfortunately she has a reoccurrence of the ankle injury which she suffered earlier in the year. "It is a huge shame that she didn't get a chance to showcase her exceptional talent on the racecourse this season. "She was a brilliant two-year-old; winning at Royal Ascot before gaining a Group One success in the Moyglare Stud Stakes. The form of her win in the Moyglare has been franked consistently throughout this year. "The work she has shown us on the gallops at home this season gives me every reason to think that she would also be a Group One winner at three - sadly it was not to be. "I would like to thank Craig for his patience and support and wish him success with Cursory Glance at stud."
