Custom Cut fine after Epsom Trainer George Kent feels the undulating terrain was to blame for Custom Cut's disappointing effort in the Diomed Stakes at Epsom last week. A shock winner of the Gladness Stakes at the Curragh in early April, Custom Cut proved that triumph was no fluke by running Duntle close in the Amethyst Stakes at Leopardstown next time. However, after cutting out the early running in the Diomed, the six-year-old faded into sixth position. Kent is looking forward to seeing his charge return to a more conventional track, with the Ballycorus Stakes at Leopardstown on June 13 his most likely next objective. The County Waterford handler said: "He's come out of the race well, but, unfortunately, he just didn't take to the track. You either take to Epsom or you don't and he kept changing his lead coming round Tattenham Corner. "I think he enjoyed the race and he always comes out of his races bucking and squealing, so we'll move on. We'll look at the Ballycorus Stakes in Leopardstown on June 13. I don't think it will come too soon for him. "It's not going to be easy for him now with his Group Three penalty, but I think there'll be other days in him."
