Ben Dalton is facing a lengthy spell on the side-lines after breaking his wrist at Thurles last Thursday.

The Irish Grand National winning jockey was unseated at the last by Prosperity Square, after the gelding was badly hampered by the fall of The Blarney Rose.

Dalton is now set to miss the busy Christmas period, and he said this afternoon: "I broke my wrist, and I sprained my C4 joint, I didn’t fracture it in the end, I went to get x-rays on it and it was just sprained.

"I went in to hospital on Friday, I got operated on Saturday morning, and I was out Saturday night.

"I presume I’ll be out for around six weeks, I have to go back to Paddy Kenny on Tuesday week and I’ll probably know more then."
