Trainer Ralph Beckett is hoping his Dante Stakes winner Pride Of Arras can bounce back following a disappointing recent display as he contests the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby.

The son of New Bay won his initial two starts, including when landing the Dante at York in May, and while he started 4/1 second-favourite in the English Derby on June 7, flopped badly to finish 50 lengths behind winner Lambourn.

Pride Of Arras had received an early bump, raced too keenly and was later hampered in that Epsom showpiece race and his trainer is now hoping for a better showing at the Curragh.

Beckett, trainer of last year's Prix de l'Arc winner Bluestocking, reports “he seems to have come out of his Epsom exertion in good shape, so were heading to the Curragh.

"He was too keen going up the hill at Epsom and came down the hill like a deer on ice, so it didn’t work for us. Sunday at the Curragh is another day.”

Pride Of Arras is an 8/1 chance for tomorrow’s 4.10pm classic.
