Dave launched over fences

Dave's Dream and Micheal Flips stand-out as two very interesting chase-debutants in the 2.10 at Huntingdon today, the Kier Eastern Novices' Chase.

The latter has the benefit of a point-to-point win to his name, that coming for Rodger Sweeney at Lismore in March 2008, before the son of Kayf Tara went on to show smart form under Rules for his current handler, Andrew Turnell.

He was purchased by agent Aiden Murphy at Brightwells' Cheltenham Sale in April 2008 for £200,000 having shown a nice turn of foot to score under Sweeney's son, Coleman at Lismore in the four-year-old maiden. That was a real family success for the Sweeneys from Castlelyons as Micheal Flips was homebred and he was owned by Joan, wife of Rodger and mother of Coleman.

Nick Scholfied is due to ride the five-year-old.

Meanwhile Nicky Henderson said the following of Dave's Dream in a stable tour: "Has always promised to be a high class horse, but having won his bumper and novice hurdle very easily the previous year, we were interrupted with some pulled muscles in his back. On resumption last year he won at Newbury and then an impressive victory in the Imperial Cup at Sandown.

"The bonus for winning this and any race at Cheltenham forced us, not surprisingly, into the County Hurdle at Cheltenham where he was a very honourable sixth. He has always looked like a chaser and will go straight over fences."

Tony McCoy will ride the son of Anshan and he will justifiably head the market. Henderson and former stable jockey, Mick Fitzgerald have always viewed Dave's Dream as potentially very, very high class.
