Davids Lad Decision Due This Morning

Connections of Davids Lad will find out today if their Martell Grand National contender can make the line up at Aintree on April 5.

Stewards at Naas racecourse suspended the Tony Martin-trained gelding for six weeks, with the ban running out two days after the National. He was banned after the stewards ruled a race at the course had been used as a schooling ground for the horse.

The Irish Turf Club upheld the decision, but then an appeal was heard over two days at Dublin High Court.

Turf Club chief executive Denis Egan said: 'There was no decision and judgement has been reserved until 11 o`clock on Tuesday morning. A decision will be given at that time. It`s very difficult to know which way it will go.'

One punter stands to lose his #25,000 stake before the National is run if the appeal is rejected.

The gambler placed an ante-post win bet on the horse and will forfeit his cash if Davids Lad is a non-runner.
