Gowran's Hurry Harriet Stakes is the next target for Jack Davison's star filly Fresnel.

A shock 40/1 winner on her racecourse debut at Dundalk in February, the daughter of Sea The Stars has been keeping good company ever since - most notably finishing fourth behind Pink Dogwood in the Salsabil Stakes at Navan before occupying the same finishing position in the Musidora at York.

She was last seen finishing a far from disgraced seventh in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot — and Davison is keen to drop her back in distance on her next appearance, possibly in the Listed Hurry Harriet on August 14th.

The trainer said: “Fresnel is good. We gave her a couple of weeks out in the paddock after Ascot, and she started riding out again on Monday.

"The plan at the moment is the Hurry Harriet Stakes in Gowran in the middle of August. That is over nine and a half furlongs, but in Gowran it’s basically a mile and a quarter.

"I'm happy enough to bring her back in trip at this stage, and we’ll probably ride her a bit more prominently.

"She is a top-of-the-ground filly, and I think she’ll definitely stay a mile and a half on good ground. In Ascot, going that pace over a mile and a half in soft ground just found her out, but she stayed on well at the end."
