Denman injury 'not as bad as first feared' Paul Nicholls said the condition of Denman was "not as bad as first feared" after he fell at the second last fence at Aintree today. The 2008 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner had been driven into contention for the Grade 2 Totesport Bowl Chase by jockey Sam Thomas but fell at the penultimate fence. He was then taken away in a horse ambulance. Nicholls said: "I think he has got a cut on one of his legs, andit is not as bad as I first feared. "He has gone off for examination so I will know more later. He didn't look too distressed."
