Dettori and Mullins again captain teams for Barney Curley Charity Cup

Frankie Dettori and Willie Mullins will return to Bellewstown next Wednesday September 27 for the Barney Curley Charity Cup. This is the second year of this special race meeting which has seen the racecourse raise over €200,000 for Barney Curley’s charity Direct Aid for Africa (DAFA).

The legendary jockey and champion trainer have each assembled a team of seven top-class jockeys who will go head-to-head over two races, generously sponsored by Gannon City Recovery & Recycling Services Limited and The Gallagher Group.

Points will be awarded to the first six placed horses on a scale of 20, 10, 5, 3, 2, 1 and the team that accumulates the highest number of points across the two races in the challenge will win the Barney Curley Charity Cup.

In support of DAFA, the Irish National Bookmakers Association are sponsoring free admission for all patrons on the day.

Willie Mullins, Champion Jumps Trainer, commented: “My team and I were pipped at the post in the Barney Curley Charity Cup last year. So, we are back this year, more focused than ever to keep the trophy at home.
