Dettori visit to Listowel cancelled The much-publicised planned visit of Frankie Dettori to Listowel on September 20th has been cancelled. The ever-popular Italian picked up a lengthy ban in Germany on Sunday last, ruling him out of riding at the Harvest Festival. Below is the full statement from Listowel Race Company: PRESS RELEASE Listowel Race Company can confirm the scheduled visit of Frankie Dettori to Listowel Races on Tuesday, September 20th has been cancelled. Regrettably, Mr. Dettori received a 14-day suspension following his ride aboard 2021 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner, Torquator Tasso, at Baden-Baden in Germany on Sunday last. The suspension is set to run from September 18th to October 1st, making him ineligible to ride at the Harvest Festival. While this development is a source of great disappointment to us all, Frankie remains committed to riding at Listowel and has promised to grace us with his presence at the Harvest Festival in 2023. Until then, the Harvest Festival must go on and thankfully, the utterance of 'race week' chatter is becoming more prevalent in Listowel with each passing day. The seven-day festival gets underway on Sunday, September 18th, with the Lyrath Estate sponsored "Best Dressed Couple" event among the main attractions, on what is also Garvey's SuperValu family day. The much acclaimed Wooly Farm and Giggles Entertainment will be in attendance to enhance the race day experience of our younger racegoers. The E50,000 Liam Healy Memorial Lartigue Hurdle is the feature race on day two which will also see the premiere of the "Forever In Blue Jeans" competition. Aimed at bringing a relaxed vibe to your race day, the event celebrates one of fashion's most iconic wardrobe essentials, Denim Blue Jeans, and is kindly sponsored by O’Connor Farm Supplies, Duagh. The feature race of the week, the E200,000 Guinness Kerry National, goes to post on Wednesday, September 21st. The Joseph O’Brien trained Assemble grabbed the headlines in 2021, but what does the 2022 chapter of the race have in store? At Listowel, we realise a day at the races is about more than just racing and consequently, much emphasis has been placed on fashion in 2022. The Ryle Menswear "Best Dressed Man" competition is the off course feature on Thursday, September 22nd.. The McElligott's Kia, Tralee, Ladies Day will be held on Friday, September 23rd and entrants are tasked with impressing judges, Bairbre Power and Aoife McNamara, in a bid to secure the top prize - a trip for two to New York City. Further information on the 2022 Harvest Festival schedule of events, can be found on the Listowel Races social media channels. Harvest Festival tickets are available via www.listowel races.ie, while the Listowel Races Ticket Office, located on Lower William Street, Listowel, will be open Thursday to Saturday from 12 to 3pm.
