    16:38 Roscommon - Following Orders

With somewhere in the region of 10mm of rain expected in the Roscommon area on Monday thanks to Storm Floris, expect the ground to be on the soft side of yielding on Tuesday afternoon and one that looks guaranteed to be suited by any further ease in the ground is Following Orders.

This son of Order Of St George ran a huge race on his rules debut at Leopardstown when encountering these sorts of conditions and while he’s not proved as good on quicker surfaces subsequently, he’s run several promising races in defeat, including an encouraging fourth when stepped up to this sort of distance at Wexford last time out.

That was his first run of the campaign so he can be expected to come on for that outing and slower conditions this time should help bring this point-to-point runner-up’s stamina into play.

His main threat looks like Noticebox but he’s failed to fire on slow ground twice previously and the selection doesn’t have much to find with Gavin Cromwell’s representative; he looks worth chancing each-way at the prices in a race that lacks depth.

    4.382m. 4f. 59yds. 15 Declared.
Curragh To Curragh Charity Cycle Mdn Hdl of €10,000.00 4-y-o plus

18:20 Roscommon - Its Not Over Yet

Course form counts for plenty at this venue and previous course and distance winner, Its Not Over Yet, is edging back down to a workable handicap mark.

He was making it two on the spin when winning here in September and while he’s not been as effective subsequently, a return to slower ground may help do the trick. He also shaped like he may have needed his first start of the campaign at Kilbeggan last week over an insufficient 2m3f, doing well to finish seventh of 13 and this son of Califet is going to relish the return to three miles.

From a 2lb lower mark, he looks capable of outrunning his odds with Phillip Enright back in the saddle, a jockey who has won two of the last five renewals of this race.

    6.203m. 16 Declared.
    DNG Ivan Connaughton H'cap H'dle of €11,500.00 4-y-o plus

    19:30 Roscommon - Stily

Stily has been knocking on the door of late and might be able to get rid of his maiden tag on his chase debut.

He’s looked promising over timber so far and his trainer does much better with his chasers, so he should be capable of making his presence felt with a mark of 86 to work with.

The step back up in trip ought to suit and there is a suspicion he will go under the radar in the betting.

    7.302m. 5f. 155yds. 16 Declared.
    Kepak H'cap S'chase of €10,000.00 4-y-o plus
