Distinction To Be Kinane´s Melbourne Mount

Mick Kinane is set to partner Distinction in the Melbourne Cup at Flemington in November.

The Irishman has a good record in Australia´s greatest race and won it on Vintage Crop in 1993.

He partnered the Sir Michael Stoute-trained gelding to victory in last month´s Lady O Goodwood Cup and is due to continue his association with Distinction in Tuesday´s Weatherbys Lonsdale Cup at York.

'The horse is in very good form, and he´s all set for next week with Mick Kinane riding,' Alex Smith, spokesman for owners Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, told the Racing Post.

'Mick rode the horse very well at Goodwood and he has got the nod to ride the horse again. He has got experience in Australia and has ridden in the Melbourne Cup many times before, so who could be better?'
