Rougemont (10-1) saw off the late challenge of Mickdaam to win the Tattersalls Millions 3YO Trophy at Newmarket on Thursday.

Richard Hannon's Montjeu colt was the lesser-fancied of his two runners as Coupe De Ville was well backed but it was the Julie Wood-owned horse who came out on top.

Always prominent, Rougemont grabbed a rail position early on under Patt Dobbs and was the one to catch inside the final furlong.

Mickdaam (5-1) angled out for a run under Jamie Spencer and looked a real threat at one stage but Rougemont pulled out more near the finish to win by half-a-length.

Arsaadi (16-1) finished third.

A delighted Wood said: "That's extra special as he's our 100th winner as an owner. We've had 99 in England and the big Goffs sales race in Ireland and this is a nice horse who's been working well at home.

"He's progressed nicely over the winter but isn't in the Derby. We'll have to find a nice race for him though!"
