Doire Set For Confidence Boost

Dun Doire will be seen in action over hurdles in the near future as connections hope to rebuild his confidence.

The seven-year-old gelding, who notched a six-timer over fences last term, took a nasty fall at The Chair when contesting the Becher chase over the Grand National fences at Aintree last month.

And while he appears to be none the worse for that mishap, trainer Tony Martin feels he may benefit from a spin over hurdles before connections target bigger prizes over larger obstacles once more.

The County Meath handler said: 'Things just didn't work out at Aintree the last day but he came back not too bad and it was just one of those things.

'It was hard luck and we'll have to see where we go now but I'll probably give him a run over hurdles next and try and get some confidence back.'
