Domino lands Cork opener for Slatterys El Domino quickened away smartly to land the opening Irish Stallions Farms EBF Maiden at Cork for the trainer Andy Slattery. His son and namesake was in the saddle on the 4/1 shot, who travelled strongly to challenge a furlong-and-a-half from home. The son of Ardad was asked to extend passing the furlong pole and soon settled matters, going on to post a convincing two-length success over 28/1 shot Spirit of The Nite. El Domino had been third to the impressive Marco Polo here earlier in the month and was dropping back to the minimum trip today. "He is a lovely horse but was weak and immature,” said Slattery senior. “He had two weeks on the walker after his run the last day, due to sore shins, and that's him finished now for the year. We'll geld him during the week. "His owner Noel McElholm is 87 and couldn't make the trip today.
