The Shane Donohoe trained French Press landed a gamble at Wolverhampton this afternoon, taking the Betfred Mobile Sports Handicap under Cameron Hardie.

The three-year-old son of Kheleyf was as big as 25/1 this morning, but he opened on-course at just 6/1, the price he went off at.

Having chased the leaders in the early stages he went second two furlongs out, and was ridden to lead with a furlong left to race.

He was strongly pressed by Presumido in the closing stages, but he held on to score by a head.

The Samantha Donohoe owned victor was formerly trained in the UK, and he won at Bath off a mark of 73 in October of last year.

He went to a career high mark of 74 after that success, but after six disappointing efforts for Donohoe he dropped to 55, the mark which he won off today.
