Downpatrick cancelled Downpatrick’s scheduled meeting for today has been cancelled following heavy thunder showers at the course this morning, which has left the track unfit for racing. There will be a 7.30am inspection on Sunday morning ahead of the fixture scheduled to take place tomorrow. Clerk of the Course Brian Hamilton reports "unfortunately, following heavier than predicted thunder showers, Downpatrick is now unfit for racing and following an inspection we have no option but to cancel the fixture for today. "Since our update at 8am we've had a further 17mm of rain and it's still raining heavily at present. There is now surface water Iying on the track and the volume of rain in such a short space of time has left the track unfit for racing. "There will be a 7.30am inspection tomorrow ahead of Sunday's scheduled fixture."
