The former Jessica Harrington trained Dragon Pulse inflicted a first career defeat on Dabirsim on his French debut in the Grade 3 Prix De Fontainebleau at Longchamp yesterday.

Last year's Futurity Stakes winner and National Stakes runner-up behind Power was having his first start for trainer Mikel Delzangles.

Dabirsim was sent-off a warm favourite for his reappearance but was very keen through the early stages under Christophe Soumillon.

Despite the early problems the jockey was looking around for dangers as he cruised past the front-running Sofast a furlong out but in behind Gregory Benoist was galvanising the winner.

The son of Kyllachy produced a storming finish to cut down Dabirsim, on whom Soumillon was now in full flight, in the final strides.

Sky Bet cut the winner to 12's from 25's for the QIPCO 2000 Guineas, a race his trainer Delzangles won with Makfi. Boylesports are 14s from 20s.
