Drever Team See Merit In Wetherby

Inglis Drever will start the defence of his British Horseracing Board Order of Merit title at Wetherby on Saturday in the John Smith´s West Yorkshire Hurdle.

With victory in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle and successes at Haydock and Wincanton, Howard Johnson´s six-year-old earned the most points from the season´s open Graded races to land a #300,000 bonus for connections.

Inglis Drever ran over a variety of distances last term but is likely to tackle the longer trips now, starting off with the three mile and one furlong Grade Two contest.

Johnson´s Royal & SunAlliance Novices´ Hurdle winner No Refuge is also among the 17 entries, but the trainer said: 'The two wouldn´t clash and Inglis Drever is the intended runner at the moment.

'Inglis Drever had a racecourse gallop last week and he has been down to the beach today for a change of scene. Graham Lee is very happy with him and we are looking forward to defending our Order of Merit crown.'
