Dundalk keen to race With Irish racing being hit hard by the big freeze, Dundalk today confirmed that they are willing and able to stage racemeetings if required. Manager Jim Martin revealed that there are no problems with the all-weather track in Louth and trainers are flocking to the course to gallop their horses. Martin is keen to stage additional meetings but has received no approach from anyone in HRI about the possibility of using the venue. “We have no problems here and horses are galloping on the track as usual,” said Martin. “The facility is here and we would love to see it used but the decision to use it is HRI's and not ours. “We would be glad to help out in the current conditions.” The all-weather track is a popular destination for trainers wanting to gallop their charges and Martin added:- “We normally gallop on Sundays and Tuesdays but a lot of guys are coming all different days to make use of the track. “With some trainers there may be an issue about travelling but once they get on to the motorway there is no problem getting here.” Cork staged the last turf meeting in Ireland on Saturday January 2nd. With the news today that Leopardstown's card on Sunday has been lost the next chance of racing going ahead is Thurles on Thursday 14th.
