Elliott books Soumillon for Dirar

Gordon Elliott has moved quickly to snap up the services of Christophe Soumillon to ride his Dirar in the totesport.com Cesarewitch on Saturday.

Johnny Murtagh was initially booked for the ride but he will instead get the leg up on Barney Curley's well-backed runner Sereth.

Elliott is pleased to have secured another high-profile jockey for the stamina-sapping contest and feels his charge has real place claims having finished second on his latest outing at Listowel.

"Christophe Soumillon will now ride the horse and I'm sure he'll be all right," said the County Meath handler.

"The horse has been very good since Listowel and I think he's improved a bit since then.

"The step up in trip should suit him and he's a horse who could definitely run into the money with a bit of luck.

"I think the race should suit him down to the ground, so we're looking forward to it.

"He's pretty versatile regarding ground as he's won on good to soft, but I think good ground will be perfect for him."
