Scalpnagoon kept up the flying form of Gordon Elliott when landing the opener at Thurles this afternoon.

The Cullentra handler saddled four winners at Navan yesterday and this Policy Maker gelding got on the scoresheet for the first time today.

Danny Gilligan led early on the 15/8 shot before tracking new leader Initiateur after four flights.

He regained the advantage two from home and had a willing mount in the closing stages as Scalpnagoon stayed on strongly to beat Happy Me by a length-and-a-quarter.

The winner came into the race having chased home easy winner Downmexicoway at Down Royal on St Stephen’s Day.

Elliott said:- “He had a nice run the last day when he stayed going well and I was a bit worried about the ground today.

"He's a big horse who will jump a fence in time."
