Endless Drama puts in good work Down Under Endless Drama impressed his new trainer Chris Waller in a trial on his arrival in Melbourne and will make his Australian debut in the Emirates Stakes. The former Ger Lyons-trained four-year-old booked his place in the 10-furlong heat at the Spring Carnival after he swept eight lengths clear of the rest in a barrier trial win at Cranbourne on Monday. The Qatar Bloodstock-owned colt created a big first impression after only coming out of quarantine on Saturday. "The trial was a great way for us to see where he is at and just learn more about the horse," Waller told www.racing.com. "I only laid eyes on him for the first time recently at the quarantine centre at Werribee. He has been going quite well on the track but like the punters, we didn't really have much of a guide on him. "Taking him to Cranbourne was a way of getting to find out how he handles travel, how he recovers, how he performs and a better understanding of where his fitness levels are at." Ridden by Craig Williams, Endless Drama settled off the pace before working clear in the straight to win the 1190m trial with ease. The official winning margin was eight lengths, a performance that has Waller pleased. "I would say one in five of the European imports fire when they come to Australia," he said. "And, from what I've seen thus far, I think Endless Drama might fall in to the category of those that will handle our conditions. "It is a big change for them, our style of racing, the conditions of our tracks and for whatever reason sometimes they just don't bring their form from Europe. "The plan is to have only one run with Endless Drama this spring but he is an ideal horse to aim at the Queen Elizabeth Stakes in Sydney for the autumn carnival."
