Exeter goes ahead, Warwick called off

This afternoon's meeting at Exeter goes ahead after the track passed a third inspection at 11am - although the races over fences are still in some doubt.

The course escaped frost overnight but temperatures then fell dramatically early this morning to leave the meeting in serious doubt.

Conditions began to warm up again mid-morning though, and clerk of the course Barry Johnson is happy to give the card the green light.

However, the three races due to be run over fences are not certain to go ahead and the chase course will be checked again half an hour before racing.

"The meeting goes ahead. We're already omitting one hurdle and there's another we're having a look at, but the hurdle course is fit for racing," said Johnson.

"We're going to have an inspection of the chase course at 11.50am because we have some frozen patches on the landing side of the fences, but it is coming out."

This afternoon's meeting at Warwick has been abandoned due to frost.

Although the course escaped freezing temperatures overnight, conditions have worsened this morning and clerk of the course Andrew Morris has been forced to call off proceedings.

"We were above freezing all night and at 5.30am we were pretty confident," said Morris.

"However, since then we've had freezing fog descend upon us, temperatures have plummeted and we can see the frost going back in the ground.

"We are below freezing now and we're only forecast to get up to plus 1C or plus 2C today, so with that in mind, there is really no prospect of conditions improving enough for racing to go ahead."
