Facile first success for O'Grady Cracker Available at 33s this morning before being returned at an SP OF 14/1, O'Grady Cracker ran out an easy winner in the second division of the Massey Ferguson Johnston Farm Equipment Longford Handicap Hurdle at Kilbeggan. A son of Way To Paris, the four-year-old had been tailed off on handicap debut at Clonmel in April but it was a different story this time in a first-time visor. Prominent throughout the two miles, three furlong-contest, the winner went away from Thirsty Work between the final two flights to score by 12 lengths. Andy Slattery trains the youngster for Kay Russell, and Slevin sported the colours of the late Edward O'Grady, viz. navy with pale blue sash and red cap.   O'Grady bred this winner out of his bumper and hurdles winner Miss Nomer, and his success means that the daughter of Overbury is now the dam of six individual winners. "Good performance, and the first-time headgear obviously worked," said rider J.J. Slevin. "Slattery's are in great form, having a great time, and I  was lucky to get the ride on this one because their own men, Cian Quirke and Philip Donovan, are sidelined. "Obviously Kay (Russell) is the partner of the late Mr. O'Grady. It's a privilege to ride a winner in these colours. Mr. O'Grady is gone a year next Monday. So, luckily, he is looking down on us."
