Trainer Owen Burrows has provided an update on three key members of his yard, as star filly Falakeyah takes a break, Gethin gears up for a comeback, and Anmaat awaits the rain.

Falakeyah Set for Autumn Return After Summer Break

Plans are on pause for Falakeyah, who is currently enjoying a mid-season break at Shadwell following a disappointing run in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot. The daughter of New Bay had earlier emerged as a potential Classic contender with a strong performance in the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket.

Burrows confirmed she will return to training at the beginning of August:

“I wasn’t totally 100 per cent happy with her after Ascot… we thought a bit of a break would do her good,” said Burrows.

“Hopefully we’ll get her back for a bit of an autumn campaign, we’ll see how she is and see what she’s telling me.”

Despite initial hopes for the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood, her name was absent from entries, indicating a more patient approach going forward.

Gethin and Anmaat also in the Spotlight for Burrows Yard

Another promising name in the Burrows yard, Gethin, is eyeing a late-summer return. The colt impressed when beating Saddadd—who went on to win the London Gold Cup—but a setback halted his spring progress and ended any Derby hopes.

“He’s going to start half-speed work again next week and (a return at) the end of August time I’ve got planned for him all being well,” Burrows noted.

As for Anmaat, winner of last year’s Champion Stakes, the next big target is the Juddmonte International Stakes at York, pending weather conditions:

“He’s in grand form and hopefully by York we get a proper drop of rain.
