Favourite Dancing Star won the Qatar Stewards' Cup for trainer Andrew Balding and owner Jeff Smith.

Twenty-four years after Lochsong had carried the same colours to victory in the race, the well-backed 9/2 favourite followed up her latest Newmarket win in style with an impressive success.

Strong-travelling Orion's Bow (6/1) cruised into the race and while unable to go with the winner, did stick on for second ahead of the fast-finishing Raucous (16/1).

Growl (14/1) came from the clouds to take fourth under Ryan Moore and with Sky Bet paying two extra places, Duke Of Firenze and Rivellino completed the first six home.

"She dug deep - she's very tough," said Balding, whose father Ian trained Lochsong. "We were very lucky to even get in the race. That was more by luck than judgement that we just crept in. I'm so thrilled for Jeff too, who has been such a brilliant supporter of the stable."

"We're very very lucky - this is a grand-daughter to Lochangel, who was a half-sister to Lochsong, so she's keeping up a great tradition," added Smith. "I don't think another filly has won the race in between so I think it was a very good performance. We had a good draw, which helped, but she won it well."

The trainer added that he would now like to target the Group One Sprint contest on Qipco British Champions Day at Ascot after giving her a short break.
