Fervent makes it two in a week for Crawford Fervent wore down Tatum, ridden by four-timer-seeking Dylan Browne McMonagle, to land the Kate O'Sullivan Handicap over an extended 1m3f in Fairyhouse. Tatum tried to slip her rivals inside the final quarter of a mile, but Seamie Heffernan was having none of it as he sent Fervent after her. Tatum was boxing on at the business, but was reeled in with 150 yards to travel. The 9/4 favourite, trained by Stuart Crawford, went on by a length and a-quarter from the 3/1 runner-up. Highway Sixty One was more than four lengths back in third, a nose in front of Randall Poets Lass (10/1). "He won well last week and the Crawfords were very happy that he came out of the race well,” said Heffernan. “We didn’t think stepping up another two furlongs would be a disadvantage and he’s backed it up. “He’s probably matured and strengthened a lot from last year to this year. Hopefully he keeps improving.” Fervent won by a length and a-quarter over 10 furlongs at this track last week. Additional reporting by Gary Carson
