Fifteen set for Ulster National

The feature event of the year at Downpatrick, the €25,000 Toals Bookmakers Ulster Grand National EBF Handicap Chase has attracted a full field of 15 runners (plus two reserves).

Northern trainers have won the race on four of the last eight renewals - Brian Hamilton (with the ill-fated Chief Oscar last year), George Stewart (in successive years with News Item) while Lancero landed the race for Jeremy Maxwell in 2003.

The Northern representation is this year led by the Ian Ferguson trained Bally Wall while Selection Box, Jack Finch, Hughies Grey and Posh Bird are others with sound claims.
