First Cheltenham success for Edmunds Newport Pagnell trainer Stuart Edmunds claimed a keynote victory as Wolf Of Windlesham pounced in the Grade Two JCB Triumph Hurdle Trial at Cheltenham. The 12-1 chance, ridden by Josh Moore, hardly looked a winner-in-waiting for a long way, but he slowly edged into contention as Romain De Senam, the 5-6 favourite, took the field along. Wolf Of Windlesham gained an advantage approaching the final flight and had to be driven out to score by half a length from Coo Star Sivola, who was a big eye-catcher at big odds for the Nick Williams team. Romain De Senam finished third, while the well-regarded duo of Oceane and Fingertips disappointed. Moore said: "He performed well because his jumping isn't quite there yet. "He stuck it out well, in fairness to him. "He's got a great attitude, the horse." Edmunds, who was securing a first Cheltenham winner, said: "He shows plenty at home, which is nice. "I wanted to go to Ludlow with him on Thursday, but the owner wanted to come here. "It was a bold move, but it's paid off. "He coped with Cheltenham well and that's a bonus, and his jumping will improve when he gets more confident. "It's amazing to have a winner here, and I'm over the moon. "He seems to stay and he came up the hill well, but Joshua said that in future he would hang on to him a bit longer."
