The Mark Fahey-trained Flicker Of Hope made it two from three over fences when staying on strongly to win the EASYFIX Equine Novice Chase at Naas.

Third at Wexford on his chasing debut in October, the Swords Bloodstock Limited-owned gelding opened his account at Fairyhouse the following month.

Sent off 7/2 here, the seven-year-old tracked the pace under Donagh Meyler, before moving second early in the straight.

Ranging up alongside leader Kurasso Blue at the penultimate fence, Flicker Of Hope went on before the last, going clear to win by two-and-three-quarter lengths.

Mark Fahey said: “He was brilliant and Donagh gave him a super ride.

“He’s a joy to have around the place and jumps brilliant. He takes lengths out of everything over his fences, and he seems to be going the right way.

“I don’t know what we are going to do next. We’ll make a plan in the next week.

“We brought him over to Cheltenham last year and he was a bit disappointing. There are plenty of races at home, but we’ll see.”
