Force too strong for Alanza Lethal Force was a shock winner of the Group 2 Betfred Hungerford Stakes at Newbury under an enterprising ride from Adam Kirby. The 25-1 chance, continuing the fine run of Clive Cox's stable, raced into a clear lead through the early stages and never saw an another rival. Ryan Moore was sitting noticeably still on Strong Suit (9-4) two furlongs out but soon tried to reel the leader in. However try as he might, and Richard Hannon's charge did get to within a head of the winner at the line, he could never quite get there. John Oxx's Alanza (9-1) was another doing her best work at the finish in third.
