Friday D-day for Davids

Grand National fever is beginning to take hold as the Aintree feature grows ever closer and the big story surrounding this year's renewal appears set to run and run. Of course that tale is about Davids Lad and his battle to be let run.

Well it seems that Friday is now d-day for the horse, as his connections go to the Supreme Court in a bid to overturn decisions of the Appeals and Referrals Committee of the Turf Club and the High Court.

It is now hoped that the Supreme Court will put a stay on the order of the High Court pending the determination of an appeal. If an interlocutory injunction were granted, a restraint would be put on the suspension of Davids Lad from racing until a fresh hearing.

Meanwhile, The Bunny Boiler was today confirmed as a runner and it also now seems certain that last-year's winner Bindaree will be let run. Nigel Twiston-Davies' star has been isolated since an outbreak of equine herpes was discovered at his yard.
