Future Looking Bright For McNamara Injured jockey Robbie McNamara believes he has turned an important corner in his recovery. McNamara sustained serious injuries in a fall on the eve of the Grand National with his ailments including broken ribs, a punctured lung and fractured vertebrae. His long recovery is continuing and in an interview with RTE's Saturday Sport programme he said: "At the very start, I think it was the night I came out of my operation, I was obviously enjoying myself on medication, and I came around and my father and mother were there. "They started to cry and I told them that if they were going to start crying to go and do it somewhere else. "Early on I was in great form and it made things a lot easier on them but five or six weeks in the medication started to wear off and reality set in a bit and I started to find it tough. "I tried not to show that in front of my parents but they could sense it and that was a few tough weeks for all of us. "But the last two or three weeks I've turned the corner. It's a lot easier on them now as well I can see. "I had a great weekend at home in Limerick, it was my first time [back] home. My mother, when I was heading back, she had a bit of a tear in her eye, she was so happy with how the weekend went. "She realised that I was enjoying myself again and back to my old self." Earlier this week Robbie tweeted a picture of himself back on a horse for the first time which received a massive response from all ends of the racing community.
