Gaisce Youth Race Day set to Rock Leopardstown

- Ireland’s Biggest Ever Youth Race Day to Take Place This Weekend -

School’s out for summer and this weekend the destination of choice for young people planning to celebrate their new found freedom will be Leopardstown Racecourse. To mark 25 years of Gaisce, The President’s Award, Leopardstown Racecourse will host Ireland’s biggest ever youth race day. Gaisce Youth Race Day will be jam packed with entertainment and attractions for the whole family. Music lovers will be spoiled for choice with a full line up including The Chapters, Von Shakes and the ever popular Hallelluia Gospel Choir.

Regular race goers are in for a special treat and novice race goers are sure to be bitten by the racing bug as Johnny Murtagh and Ruby Walsh captain a select team of eight jockeys from Flat and National Hunt racing who will compete over two races. Television personalities Ella McSweeney and Brendan McArdle will present Gaisce TV and capture all the fun of the day, including celebrity interviews and racegoer’s reviews.

Leopardstown Manager Tom Burke: “Gaisce Race Day is sure to be a race day with a difference and for many visitors to Leopardstown Racecourse on Sunday it will be their first ever racing event. We have been working very hard to organise a packed line up of fantastic entertainment including a horse riding simulator which will let guests try their hand at being a jockey and get a real feel for what’s involved in becoming a champion. Gaisce race day will be the perfect introduction to the world of racing so we hope to see you all there.”

Gaisce - the President’s Award is Ireland’s National Challenge Award. The country’s most prestigious and respected individual award programme, and a challenge from the President of Ireland, to young people between 15 and 25 years of age.

First race begins 2.05pm. Admission: Under 14s free, Under 25s €10, all tickets are available on the door.
