Galway Plate Update

Ansar is on course to bid for a third William Hill Galway Plate success on Wednesday after being left among 33 possibles for the Festival feature.

Dermot Weld's veteran plundered this prize in 2004 and 2005 and has won at this venue seven times.

Paul Nicholls' ante-post favourite Oslot could be joined by stablemate Hoo La Baloo, who currently heads the weights on 11st 10lb.

Willie Mullins remains double-handed with Emma Jane and Irish Invader still on the list, while Rosaker is one of four possibles for Noel Meade.

Tony Martin's Reisk Superman, Green Mile and Wonderkid are also all in with a chance.

The John O'Shea-trained Santa's Son disappointed on the Flat at Killarney last time but his trainer is hopeful he can bounce back to form.

"He is very much on course for the race and his last piece of work this morning went very well," said the County Kilkenny handler.

"It was his first run for a couple of months at Killarney the other day but we were still disappointed as they went very quick and Niall Madden said he blew up a bit.

"You would like to be going to Galway 110% rather than 90% but he has a nice weight and I certainly wouldn't put anyone off backing him."
