Trainer Gordon Elliott plans to run the exciting Gerri Colombe in the Grade 1 Guinness Faugheen Novice Chase on St Stephens Day at the Limerick Christmas racing festival.

Owned by Robcour, Gerri Colombe impressed when winning a beginners' chase at Fairyhouse last month and Elliott told Dave Keena he will appreciate the likely soft ground at Limerick.

"He loves soft ground and is very ground dependent. He was good in Fairyhouse and we're looking forward to running him.

"He's very laid back at home so if I were to tell you he's come on a ton since Fairyhouse, I'm telling you a lie. He doesn't do anything fancy at home but he's a nice horse and we're lucky to have him."

The Saddler Maker gelding, odds-on in the ante-post market for Monday's 100,000 Euros contest, is unbeaten in six outings, a point-to-point, two bumpers, two hurdles and last month's victory over Bronn at Fairyhouse.

Elliott also has Drinmore winner Mighty Potter, Three Stripe Life and Minella Crooner, due to be sold tomorrow at the Goffs Online Sale, among 15 entries for the Greenmount Park highlight.

He added: "We've won this race before (with Hardline) and we've got beaten short distances in it a couple of times. It's a great race and hopefully we'll be well represented in it."
