Godolphin notch Grade 1 double Stateside

Godolphin enjoyed another super Saturday in America when securing Grade One triumphs at Hollywood Park and Belmont Park.

Hibaayeb set the ball rolling in the Yellow Ribbon Stakes at Hollywood, while Girolamo claimed a first success at the highest level in the Vosburgh Stakes at Belmont.

The former teed up a potential raid at the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf by taking the Yellow Ribbon by a length.

Claire Sparkes, assistant to Saeed bin Suroor, said "I was very happy with that position for her (with three eighths of a mile to go) because she stays a mile and half.

"She had a great position throughout, and she just keeps staying on, which she did. She just loves that ground.

"She doesn't look like she'd want fast ground, but she does go well on it.

"We've been very happy with how she's been since she shipped here."

Bin Suroor's Girolamo revelled in a drop in trip to win the Vosburgh by two and a half lengths.

Although the Belmont Grade One is a recognised trial for the Breeders' Cup Sprint, he could instead run in the Breeders' Cup Mile on dirt.

Assistant trainer Rick Mettee said: "It wasn't the race we thought we'd get, but at least we got a comeback race in him.

"He was spot-on from a fitness standpoint."
