Godolphin wins the German Guineas Frankie Dettori timed his run to perfection on Frozen Power to win the German 2000 Guineas at Cologne this afternoon. The Group Two success gives Godolphin's new trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni his biggest win to date. The Rathbarry Stud bred colt had shown a good level of form at the Dubai Carnival and rounded off his campaign there with a fifth-placed finish in the UAE Derby. Sent off the 6-4 favourite, Dettori settled his mount in mid-division on the outside of the pack and although it took him a while to hit top gear, Frozen Power always looked likely to claim the spoils and he got up late on to beat Kite Hunter in a blanket finish. Earlier on the card Tom Dascombe's Don't Tell Mary finished unplaced in the Karin Baronin Von Ullmann - Schwarzgold-Rennen. Having been handy in the early stages, the Hilary Needler winner was weakening when severely hampered a furlong out. The race was won by Prakasa, trained by Waldemar Hickst and ridden Eddie Pedroza.
